Program Note: Weekend "Must Viewing!"
If you receive"DISCOVERY TIMES" from your cable or satellite provider, you will experience an extraordinary evening of independent producer's IRAQ WAR documentaries. One of them, which you can watch a brief, 10 minute clip from, was done on a shoestring budget by two young men from Little Rock, Arkansas. The clip is on the Friday, (today) October 22 edition of Democracy Now-The War and Peace Report with Amy Goodman. The show premieres tomorrow night on Discovery Times channel.
When they heard that the largest contingent of Arkansas National Guard troops since the Viet Nam War was shipping out to Iraq, they received permission to go with the Guard. What you see may fill your heart with angst, but you must view it, in my humble opinion.
Also in that same show, viewable online with Real Player, you will see another Iraq documentary narrated by Ed Asner. They have the bulk of that one on today's show. That website deserves a bookmark. They produce outstanding programming, with special guests, every weekday. It is not to be missed.
Bill Moyers' PBS video newsletter, N-O-W, is on tonight as well. Check local listings. Pretty soon this show will be gone, giving way to PBS' new fascination with right wing politics. Tucker Carlson's show will presumably replace Bill Moyers. A good reason to cancel your membership. Bill Moyers has decided to retire. If anyone has other suggestions for good viewing, click below on the "posted by AJ" and leave a comment. We don't even require a membership card to log on.
